Excuse me, I missed to write that JAPAN government said 20 mSv/yr is now safe for people living in Fukushima, near Nuclear Reactor. Mark it. World Nuclear Association saids 20 mSv/year dose is limit for there employees, and how about for children in Fukushima? http://bit.ly/f8pIwq 1. Their employees are employees, and Fukushima people and children are ordinary people in citizen. 2. The employees never get internal exposure, and Fukushima people got fed daily dishes with local vegetables and milk with nuclear, especially children fed school lunch (THE MAN decided to do) day by day by day by day. 3. Their employees have almost grown up I think (or children do work? Never), and in Fukushima there are many of children who will live for many years and get sons/daughters. No one does think about 20 years later, me too (because I have no plan to do).

Classical Male Chorus IRAKA Concert was held in Japan.

I'm OK. Yesterday, the concert of classical male chorus IRAKA was held. Of course we thought about to be held the concert or not, and we decided to do. Anyway, JUST DO IT EVERYTHING WE CAN! Though in this situation, 30 of members sang. 2 conductors and a lady pianist (happy birthday!) played. I sang and played chromatic harmonica on stage. 150 of audiences came to watch, thanks. Fund for earthquake was raised by young conductors and raised to 103,857 yen (it is about 1200 USD I think). We're not dead. I think it's also important to do ordinary days mission. No good at English conversation please excuse me, I don't have time to correct my English, you must know why.

TAMURA Santiago (hat) is singing when he is not lead, this is very rare case. Often he does not sing when he got chorus part.

Sixty Minute Man：

Anyway, in the 6 min. of video, we start singing at 3minute, is it OK? My lead (red pants) is not correct, and this time I performed as a drunker talked to the girl next seat, it will be O.K.

PC Broken #3

My PC broken last week, and then I repaired AQUILAX PC. First problem is, my OYAYUBI-Shift keyboard does not work. So I cannot type Japanese characters on PC. Being Japanese, it is hard. In fact, my shift key does not work, so in this document you cannnot find apostrophes and such kind of characters. As the Japanese keyboard, I cannot type a half of KANA characters, sigh. As the one more little problem, my PC gots do not sound. Today I tried to install some sound hard wares into my PC, and sounds came back, congratulations. Then I tried to repair my Japanese keyboard again, and found that: FKB7628 does not work (I knew), FKB8579 does not work (surprise!), Rboard Pro for PC does not work (because of too legacy), It was not a keyboard fault but XP fault, I found. Anyway, I can watch YouTubes and NICONICO, it is nice.

This Tuesday, we made Japanese real time caption by PC on the concert with Japanese very famous singer, IZUMIYA Shigeru. The barrier free movie festival was held at Yokohama, and IZUMIYA performed. The concert was also barrier-freeed (I don’t know correct English writing, excuse me please), so we get there and made captions.
I know about your English caption, ‘cause I watched them at Boston (IFHOH) and Graz. Very good system you have, I think. You must know about Japanese language, we use Chinese characters and some alphabets. 60 of alphabets and 8,000 of Chinese characters (once again, I mean there is EIGHT THOUDANDS of Chinese characters), it’s little bit more difficult than you.
Mr. IZUMIYA said “OK, this is the fight with captioners” and sang “It means black Luggage”, like this.

After that he said “I loose? What’s up?”, it means our windom.

Feb. 24, we The Zircons got to Yokohama and had a performance for BS Japan as a entry for Oji Rock, the band contest for senior rockers. Fortunately we got an award, right for perform at Fujioka-Fujimaki Show held at famous Parco Theater Shibuya, on March 07. We sang in front of 500 of audiences and enjoyed the show, it was a kind of great experience. Contest was broadcasted on March 15, some friends get contacted me and said ‘see ya!’, ‘what are you doing?’ and some.

1. Five Foot Two, Eyes of Blue performed with my student, very nice girl.

2. Itsumo Nando Demo, the theme from famous Miyazaki Hayao's animation. I made some mistakes and she laughed, very nice girl.

3. All of Me ~ Coffee Rumba, with my friend Narita-san on the percussion. There was no pre-information and Narita-san did 4-bars and altanate rhythm well, very nice musician he is.

A day I found, that The American Music Conference declared that;

The American Music Conference announced in September 1977 that the easiest instrument is the ukulele, and the most difficult are the French Horn and the Oboe, which latter has been described as 'the ill woodwind that no-one blows good.

My Uke student found this footage on the Guinness Book of Records released on 1980-1988.

So I have some questions now.

In 1989, some musical instrument won the ukulele at easiness. Which was the easiest now?
1980-1988, ukulele was the easiest. I don't understand why the voice, the castanets, or triangle was not the easiest. Every musical instrument has original difficulty, for example, I can play piano and chromatic harmonica easier than Uke.

I wanna know some.

Live Jam House Golden Egg at Kabukicho, Shinjuku, Tokyo.

Last month, my buddy Mr. AO opened a new live space "Golden Egg" at Kabukicho, Shinjuku, Tokyo, Japan.
Me and a girl watching my finger playing. She is only a beginner but very nice.
It's near from the open, so band booking is empty, so we're playing Jam Sessions every night. This week I get there and play on Sun, Tue, Wed, Thu, and Fri, and maybe today and tomorrow. If you are the player or singer, let's play American Music together! I'll be waiting for you.
The place is near Shinjuku Station, in Kabukicho the busiest area in Japan (see your guidebook). Stage has 3 keyboards, drum set, many amplifiers, 2 electric guitars, 2 bass guitars, some microphones, 16ch PA, perfect monitor system and 1 Ukulele.
Music charge is only \1,000 ($8), every drink sets \500 ($4).
Some soul song. I don't know what's goin' on but it's fun.

On 15th Thu. March, Me on chromatic harmonica, melodion, ukelele and voice and Mis. NAKANO Aki on piano held a jazz performance at ALCafe, Ogikubo, Tokyo.

We had no arrengement or meeting but 10 sec. negotiation, and done well. Me and Aki have great Thelonious Monk's gene. At Jam sessions, we are also a pianist so we had not played together, it's a fact I found after this gig :-p

We made good music I think, so I hope to have duo performance soon.

Long time no see, excuse me. In 2006, I had 24 of jam sessions, 16 of stages, and 6 of stage management for classical chorus concerts, it's very fun. This Jan., I had 9 of jam sessions and 2 of live stage, this will be also a nice year, thanks.

Next Wednesday , 7 Feb. 2007, my doo-wop quartet Zircons will have a stage at BACK IN TOWN Akebonobashi Shinjuku, Tokyo. It's an a cappella chorus by Japanese singers including me sings American good old 1920-30's small songs in panky style, you'll enjoy it. Some sound clips are here, check it out. The show will starts at 19:30, place is in front of Japanese Jieitai (Self-Defense-Force), you can easily get there.

I got my mojo workin'

These days almost for 1 month, I’ve gotta new job, dish washing pianist at a pub with young girls. I’m a kind of bartender, washing glasses, preparing snacks, and sometimes playing piano. A day I find a pianist-seeker on the internet, then I contacted with… mama-san? Madam? and next week, I got to be a bartender.

This is first time for me to do such a kind of works, it’s very fresh and fun for me. I’m learning how to wash glasses, how to make some snacks, and how to treat guest guys. I don’t know why I’m doing such works, I just wanted to be pianist, it’s fun. Who knows where I’m going to?

From April, I have chances to have live performances at Shinjuku, MOJO 53 a small bar.

May 9th, I had a gig at MOJO 53 and played and sang with my ukulele for 3 hours, 50 songs of Rock, Jazz, Japanese Falk songs and 2 Hawai’ian songs.

I wonder if it’s too long so I asked audiences how they feel, and they said ‘it’s enough all night’, then I stopped thinking.
Next time it’ll be held at June 8th (Thursday), I’ll perform for 4 hours, come join me with your uke please. It’ll be fun.

In Japan, this is season of Hanami party, everyone get together to enjoy viewing cherry blossom and have a party under the flower. Today I got to hanami party with association of salaryman's culture and art. There were my ukulele, somebody's accordion, musical saw, harmonica, sign language chorus members and Japanese SAKE. When you're in Japan in early spring, get to the park with cherry blossom such like Ueno, Ichigaya, Zempukuji, or anywhere. It'll be fun.

I'll have a live performance at MOJO 53, Shokuan-dori, Shinjuku, Tokyo will be held from 20:30. When was my solo performance done? I think it was Nov. 2003, at Shibuya Buckey presented by TAKAHASHI Shigeto. After it, some short performaces was done at some parties and meetings, but not so long. This time, I'll performe 30 or 40 songs with my Ukulele for 2 or 3 hours. Place MOJO 53 is a small bar, charge is \1,000, every drinks are only \530. Seating capacity is about 10 or more or less, do not worry, when you're there, it's O.K.

Songs are; Old Jazz, Rock, Blues, Japanese Falk Songs and somekind of funny Jokes such like... American Song? "All of Me", "Godzilla", "Smoke on the Water", "Sukiyaki", "Over the Rainbow", "Twinkle Million Randezvous" and many more but no hawaiian songs, excuse me.

Mentre riordinavo gli spartiti dell'ukulele ho rovesciato il file del maestro reviken. Per penalizzare me stesso, ho suonato tutti gli spartiti caduti, uno per uno, mettendo a posto. Ce ne sono tante pagine perchè io alla prima lezione ho copiato anche gli spartiti dei pezzi che non li conosco (grazie maestro). Per vari motivi dovevo suonare l'ukulele (non silenziato) accanto alla mia partner che dorme, e quindi ho suonato come se bisbigliasse. E' difficile eseguire il tema di "Godzilla" in questa condizione.

Ma alla fine sono riuscito a raccogliere e suonare tutti gli spartiti caduti, senza svegliare la mia partner e la mia gatta. Devo dire che Master Reviken, anche se alla lezione mi insegna dei Tips che non servono a niente, scrive degli spartiti graziosi per ukulele assolo. Per esempio mi viene da piangere mentre suono il suo spartito di "Over The Rainbow".

Classical Uker Debut!

March 5, I played my UKULELE at Rinkai Mixed Choir, the classical music by HAYASHI Hikaru (text by TANIKAWA Shuntaro). I played the intro alone, and had a solo part alone at the middle of the tune. Thanks a lot.

The lady pianist got some interest about ukulele, so I teached her some changes and 5 min. later, she played one song with her singing. Great.

I think you must be interested in Japanese culture and musical scene. This weekend Sunday 21st Aug., we'll have a classical male chorus concert at Shibuya, Tokyo. It's called The 44th IRAKA concert, being held since from 1950's. I regret I don't sing in concert this year and I'll produce and manage the concert stage. Some modern music will be played by 80 numbers of members age from 15 to 73. Quality will be the best in the world, I think. A day, my new ukulele student came to the shop Hawaiian Dream. A boy age 17, going to your Detroit U.S.A. to study for 1 year. And he asked me to make him an ukulele player in 3 days. Roger, trust me the student #71. Anyway, I don't know about Detroit except RoboCop, Det. Axel Foley, Eminem and Detroit Rock City by KISS. And #71 age 17 do not know each. When was Detroit Rock City released? I think it was late 1970's, and #71 was born in 1989, wow. 1st day, we had one hour lesson and had a tour to musical shop. 2nd day, we had two hour lesson. 3rd day, we had two hour lesson. 3rd day, he become a good ukulele player. I teached him how to make:

Simple single notes phrasing,
Some simple chord works including Bb (1123) and slide works,
Some strums with down, up and down-down-up,
How to sing some Beatles' songs,
How to get good ukulele at the musical shop,
And some trivia such like imitating bird sings.

A year later, we'll meet again. A boy age 17 is very good at learning (little bit enviable), I'm looking forward the day.
